The Macau Ricci Institute acknowledges that the past 450 years of Macau history are a repository of abundant lessons in intercultural study and understanding.

At the threshold of the 21st. century, Macau's role as a tested crossroads between Chinese and Western experiences could not be more important. The orientations of the Institute, therefore, reflect a view toward understanding between cultures and the bridging of past into present and present into the future.

The Institute has three main orientations:

Jesuits in Chinese History

Chinese Modern Thought

Humanism and Cultural Traditions
